- PRIAE gained Special Recognition from Europe with the Jean Kahn Award
- Glaxo commended PRIAE’s work in dementia, which is regarded as “authoritative”
- PRIAE’s benchmark report for the Royal Commission on Long Term Care of the Elderly is used by policymakers to produce fair access and single assessment reforms in health
- The Institute has led national and international initiatives covering income, employment, health, social care and housing, hospital care, palliative care, health inequalities, regional investment in Black and Minority Ethnic elder organisations and quality of life
- PRIAE designed and led on the first and largest European research programme on minority elderly care (MEC) under the EC Fifth Framework Research Programme and a first such award in the EC’s funding history of 26 years, earning the highest research rating at the proposal stage.
- In 2001 Naina Patel was awarded the OBE in recognition of her work in improving quality of life and services for ethnic elders.
